How It Works

1

Copy the video link

Find the video on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook. Copy the URL from your browser's address bar, or use the Share button in the app.

2

Paste and convert

Head to downloadvideo.cc, paste the URL, and hit "Start download". We'll fetch the video and pull out the audio track automatically — nothing for you to configure.

3

Download your MP3

When it's ready, you'll see an MP3 download button. Click it and the file saves to your device. You can grab the video file too if you want both.

Works With These Platforms

YouTube

This is where you'll get the best audio quality. Works with regular videos, Shorts, music videos, podcasts, tutorials — basically anything on YouTube. If a song exists as an official music video, that's usually your best bet for a clean MP3.

Instagram

Pull audio from Reels, feed videos, and IGTV posts. Great for saving that background track from a Reel you liked, or grabbing the voiceover from someone's video. Audio quality is decent but usually a step below YouTube.

TikTok

Convert TikTok videos to MP3 to save trending sounds, original audio, or music clips. Works with regular TikTok links and the shortened URLs you get from the Share button in the app.

Facebook

Extract audio from public Facebook video posts, Reels, and shared clips. Works with videos from profiles, pages, and public groups. Audio quality varies a lot depending on how the video was originally uploaded.

When Would You Actually Use This?

Saving music and live performances

Found an amazing live version of a song on YouTube? Or a DJ set you want for your morning run? Pull the audio and listen without burning through mobile data streaming video.

Podcasts uploaded as video

A lot of podcasts and interviews go up on YouTube as video first. If you'd rather listen during your commute without staring at a screen, just grab the MP3. A typical hour-long podcast comes out to around 50-80MB as MP3.

Lectures and study material

Turn a 45-minute university lecture into an audio file you can review while walking the dog or doing chores. Way more practical than trying to watch a video while you're on the move.

Trending sounds and audio clips

Content creators: save that trending TikTok sound or Instagram audio as an MP3. Useful for referencing when you're editing your own videos or building a collection of ideas.

What You Should Know About Audio Quality and File Sizes

Let's be upfront about how this works. Every video file has two tracks inside it — a video track and an audio track. When you convert to MP3, we're extracting that audio track and saving it in a format that plays on basically everything: phones, car stereos, old iPods gathering dust in a drawer, you name it.

Here's the thing about quality: the MP3 can only be as good as the source. If you're pulling audio from a high-quality YouTube music video, you'll get a great-sounding file. If the source is a grainy phone recording someone uploaded to TikTok, well, the audio will sound like a grainy phone recording. No converter can fix that.

In terms of file sizes, a 5-minute MP3 is usually around 5-8MB. That's tiny compared to video — the same 5 minutes of video could be 50-200MB depending on quality. So if all you need is the audio, you're saving a huge amount of storage. A full hour-long podcast as MP3 runs about 50-80MB, which is perfectly manageable on any device.

YouTube tends to give the best audio quality of all the platforms we support — typically 128-256 kbps. Instagram and TikTok compress their audio more since they're focused on short-form visual content, but for casual listening the quality is still perfectly fine. Facebook varies a lot depending on how the video was uploaded.

A quick note on copyright: the audio you extract has the same copyright as the original video. Saving stuff for your own personal use is one thing, but don't go redistributing someone else's music or content. If you're a creator extracting audio from your own videos to repurpose across platforms — that's a totally normal and valid workflow.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

Start with the best source you can find

Official music videos and professionally produced content will always give you better audio than someone's phone recording. If the same song exists as an official upload and a fan recording, go with the official one.

YouTube gives the best audio

If the same content exists on multiple platforms, the YouTube version will almost always have better audio quality. YouTube uses higher bitrates than Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.

Make sure the video is public

Our converter needs to be able to access the video. If it's private or age-restricted, it might not work. Quick test: try opening the video in an incognito browser window. If you can watch it there, we can convert it.

Shorter videos are faster

We support videos up to 15 minutes, but a 2-minute clip will process much faster than a 15-minute one. If you only need a specific part, check if there's a shorter clip of just that section.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a video to MP3?

Pretty simple: copy the video URL from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook. Paste it into the download box on downloadvideo.cc and hit Download. Once it's done processing, you'll see an MP3 download button right next to the video file.

What audio quality will I get?

It depends on the source video. We extract at the highest quality available — typically 128-320 kbps depending on the platform. YouTube usually gives the best results, often around 256 kbps. One thing to keep in mind: the MP3 won't be better than the original audio in the video. If the video was low quality, the audio will be too.

Can I extract audio from Instagram Reels?

Absolutely. Reels, Stories, regular feed posts — they all work. Paste the Instagram URL and you'll get both an MP4 video file and an MP3 audio file to download.

Is there a length limit?

We support videos up to 15 minutes long, which covers most social media content, music videos, and shorter podcast clips. Longer videos might time out depending on the platform. For a 10-minute video, expect the conversion to take about 30-60 seconds.

Do I need to install anything?

Nope. Everything happens on our servers. All you need is a web browser — no apps, no plugins, no extensions. Works on your phone, tablet, laptop, whatever you've got.

Is this actually free?

Yes, fully free. No signup, no login, no subscription, no hidden fees. Paste a link, get your MP3. That's it.
